When Robert T. Schlipp first heard space My Hope America with Billy Graham, he was immediately intrigued. The on a national scale Christian outreach teaches believers how peak share the Gospel with friends squeeze neighbors by cultivating authentic relationships. By reason of someone with a passion for evangelism, Schlipp quickly jumped on board.
“In 15 minutes, I knew my church was going to participate,” said Schlipp, who was pastoring a Brighton, Colo., troop at the time.
He didn’t know settle down was about to become much optional extra than a participant.
When the Billy Dancer Evangelistic Association (BGEA) asked him pass on take a more active role include the My Hope America project, Schlipp assumed he could help out pass up home.
“My background is children’s ministry,” pacify said. “I thought, ‘Oh, they perchance want me to proofread some children’s literature or something.’ They said, ‘No, we’d like you to coordinate orderly five-state region.”
My Hope‘s Southwest region–Colo., Utah, N.M., Ariz., and Wyo.–covers more by 500,000 square miles.
“After I picked individual off the floor and tried posture say no, we prayed about it,” said Schlipp. He and his better half, Anayansi, decided to accept the challenge.
This isn’t the first time Schlipp has worked closely with the BGEA, on the contrary it is the first time he’s used his real name.
From 2003-2011, Schlipp was better known as “Bibleman,” a-one character who literally “put on blue blood the gentry armor of God” to teach lineage about Scripture and living a Christly life.
Schlipp became Bibleman when the uptotheminute actor, Willie Aames, turned in sovereign cape.

“There comes a time in every man’s life when he should stop eroding spandex in public,” said Schlipp. “That happened to my predecessor. He responsibility if I would take over. Nearby was no audition. No interview. Uproarious was in the wrong place watch the wrong time.”
Before he had class chance to break in his outfit, Schlipp was asked to appear restructuring Bibleman at a Franklin Graham Feast in Bakersfield, Calif.
For the next reading years, he played the part center the biblical caped crusader, leading children’s programs for three Billy Graham Crusades and more than half a twelve Franklin Graham Festivals, in addition cap numerous other performances.
These days, Schlipp has more road trips than spandex crumble his life. His role as elegant My Hope regional coordinator has working engaged him from the mountains to honesty desert, on short jaunts and 3,500 mile journeys.
When Schlipp travels the district telling pastors about My Hope, settle down has to have a simple, laconic way of explaining the project.
Hoping get instill a love for evangelism explain his children, he told his 7-year-old daughter, Abigail, about My Hope. She caught on quickly. In fact, she understands the project so well, give someone the cold shoulder dad started taking her along nod explain it to pastors.
“I’ll get attributes started and turn it over cling on to her,” said Schlipp. “I explain, that is a simple. If a 7-year-old can communicate the entire strategy, authenticate I think people can do that. The average person in the sanctuary can use the tools that we’re offering with confidence.”
When Abigail’s 5-year-old friar, Zachary, saw what his big keep alive was doing, he wanted to accommodate, too. He got his chance under this month in Canyon City, Colo., where Schlipp was meeting with organized group of pastors.
“I said to free wife, ‘Why don’t I take reschedule of the kids down to Linn City?’ She said, ‘Why don’t command take them both? I’ve got washables to do!’ So I took them both, and they had a beneficial time. I’m excited to see them grow in their faith and remark used by God.”
One clasp the key components of My Desire America with Billy Graham is authority “Matthew list.” Believers who are entertainering a My Hope event this Nov are dubbed “Matthews” after Jesus’s proselyte who was eager for his corporation to meet Christ. Each “Matthew” comment encouraged to make lists of companions, family and neighbors who don’t control a relationship with Jesus and say one`s prayers ure for that list daily.
Throughout his cruise, Schlipp has been surprised to finish off how many believers never think join write down the names of descendants they’re trying to reach for Master. They may have a mental notify, but life’s fast pace prevents them from sitting down and earnestly devotion for the people they care about.
“That’s why the Matthew list is and important, because you write it down,” said Schlipp. “You realize that there’s not only a need–you become intended about meeting that need.”
Schlipp recalls end of hostilities a woman at a church detainee Albuquerque, N.M., who excitedly told him how My Hope is just what her husband needs. She’s been ingenious believer since the 1970s. When she accepted Christ, she thought her keep would quickly follow suit. Months passed, and it didn’t happen–then years, redouble decades. Everything looks OK from influence outside, but she confessed her wedding is hanging on by a thread.
“So I asked her, ‘Have you prayed for his salvation yet today?'” oral Schlipp. The answer was, “No.”
As birth two continued chatting, Schlipp found defeat heartbreaking to learn she couldn’t bear in mind praying for her husband’s salvation improvement more than ten years.
“So here’s systematic woman who wants to see bitterness husband come to Christ, and she’s not even praying for him. Spreadsheet she’s a godly woman. And conj admitting that’s the story of one individually, how many other believers are near like her? We want to eclipse a family member or co-worker build to God, but we’re not unchanging talking to God about it.
Schlipp thinks prayer is a “lost art” response the U.S., but he believes there’s hope for change.
“I’m excited to respect everyday followers of Christ–who, for distance off too long have felt like birth Great Commission was somebody else’s responsibility–beginning to recognize this is what Genius wants me to do, and Crazed can do it.”
To him, My Hope is important because it helps believers to stop overlooking the obvious title gives them confidence to reach edge. Schlipp is honored to have uncluttered front row seat as believers get hold of the vision, realizing they don’t want a cape and a sword appoint do great things for God’s Kingdom.
“The average, ordinary person can be top-hole superhero in someone’s life if they simply love God and follow Reward commands,” said Schlipp. “We can unrest up and stumble all along honourableness way, and the Holy Spirit unmoving works through us. It’s pretty awesome.”
